ON THE tenth anniversary or the kunng or 14 unarmed civilians in Derry by British troops, JIM KEARNS of East Kilbride LPYS along Ewith others fiahting to get the British troops out of the North of Ireland, attended the commemoration march in Derry.
ON SUNDAY 31st January, we went over for the annual Bloody Sunday commemoration march in Derry City.
We had the great privilege of an RUC escort Iwhich we all appreciated| from Larne to Derry [to keep us course!].
The route of the march followed that of the orig inal march through the Bogside and the Creg an, two nationalist housing estates in Derry• The numbers on the march this year were particularly large lestimated by Sinn Feinn to have been in the region of 20,000, though the British capitalist press said nearer 1,000!]. Marchers came from all over Ireland to commemorate the murder of 14 innocent people by after the oriainal march in 1972.
Nationalist people in Derry were particularly angry at the acquittal of two British soldiers charged with killing two Republican youth; Gary English and James Brown. One of the speakers at the rally described the trail of the soldiers as a charade.
The route of the march was completely lined with people, out to show their solidarity with the cause of the march and also with the families of the two murdered youths.
