THE CASE of the Bradford 12 is very important because these youth have been charged with conspiracy. This carries a penalty of 10 years to lite imprisonment.
They were accused of making petrol bombs with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and to destroy property. The Bradford youth themselves say that the real reason for the charges is because of their successful work in campaigning for black people's rights against racism. EG their help to Anwar Ditta in her fight to be reunited with her children, Nasira Begum, helping prove Gary Pemberton' innocence by exposing a police frame-up, and helping free George Lindo.
The situation is unbelievable as there is no evidence. They were not caught red-handed. or even involved in any s ubversive activity, vet 1 her face the possiblity of lifc imprisonment.
At around the same time last year Reed Herbert, a fascist solicitor, and exNational Front candidate, was shown on the TV programme 'World in Action' conspiring to supply guns tor racist organisations in Britain. He is so far, a free man. Why is it that he has not been arrested for conspiracy? Even now he's still allowed to practise in the courts.
So far a broad-based committee has been formed to defend the your in Bradford and some other towns.
The cases come up in court on April 26th and its important that there is labour movement. support. There is a national conference in support of the Bradford 12 in London on 27th February, at County Hall SEI. And there is a national demonstration planned for April 3rd in Leeds. All Class fighter supporters should make sure they're there!
