Although Liverpool has quite a large black population, very few have been able to get jobs on the City Council.

The Liberals' proposals however came in for some stiff opposition from, what some might think, an unusual quarter. The 'Militant' supporters on the City Council, led by Derek Hatton, condemned the proposals as racism in reverse and made banal remarks - like jobs should go on merit.

It is a sad. situation when the assorted rubbish of the Liberal Party are seen to be doing more to stop racism in the City Council than the self-proclaimed 'marxists' of the 'Militant' group.

Stevenage YCND c/o S. O'Dell, 80 Salisoury Rd., St. Nicholas Stevenage Herts. ed for just three months and in this time we have gained 30 members. The group has been very active and sells '2nd Generation' every week on Saturdays and collects signatures every Monday. We organised a local gig and since then other local gigs have offered us some of their profits!
Also a few members have been to the local peace camp at Molesworth and offered support.
In a small place like Ware, it is very encouraging that such a large number of supporters have come furward and I hope that other areas will follow our example by making sure Class Fighter supporters are inolved in setting up YCNDs.
