Pahlished by NIWYM BM BOX 5277, London WC 1 3XX. Printed by East End Offset (TU). Become a Class when it comes to catching rapists and why are judges so biassed when it comes to rape cases in the courts? Is it because of the position of women in this society? As inferiors, there for the use of men [and capitalism]. Or is it because the police and judiciary are predominantly male and sexist?
But the question of rape must have a deeper meaning. In capitalist society it is necessary for women to be subservient to men. Her role is keeping the family healthy and reproducing the next generation of workers.
The police's role in capitalism is to ensure that the capitalists can rule and to break up any threat to that rule. So when a woman compalins of a sexual attack from a man to the police, there's bound to be conLondon flict. The woman is questioning men's palce in the system, while at the same time asking the police for hels: The police have to uphold the system, while at the same time appear to be fair.
What is needed to help women who have been raped, I think, is a sympathetic organisation run by women who can put thecase to the police for the raped woman and follow through the whole case. We also need to train for self-defence, not just physically, but also to stop being frightened and assert ourselves.
But to what extent is rape a product of capitalism - a male dominated society? Will rape eventually disappear under socialism when men and women are equal?
