IF there's one vital ingredient other than our politics that helps to keep our paper running it's money.

The trouble is that raising money for the paper (and sometimes even sending us money from sales)

usually comes a poor third or fourth to everyday To redress this situation and try and put the paper on a more sound footing we have decided besides making an urgent appeal to comrades to send us all outstanding paper money and to make prompt payments in future, to launch a fund. This money can easily be raised if only comrades would put in the effort. Here are some ideas about how you can help raise this money for us and for yourselves:

1. Elect someone in your LPYS branch to take responsibility for fundraising, distribution of papers and collecting and sending to us all paper money 2. Organise a Jumble Sale. Get a venue that's cheap. See all your members, contacts and anyone that might be sympathetic to get them to donate some jumble. Arrange collecting it. Make sure you advertise your jumble sale well. Get some posters in local shops at least a fortnight before the event and if you can afford it put out some leaflets. Charge an entrance fee and hold a small raffle on the day. Also see if you can arrange to put on tea and toast, etc. Get someone to pick up the jumble when you've finished. You only need about 8 people to organise a good jumble sale that can raise £50 + . Send us half.

3. Write to the Amalgamated Labour Supporters Association (ALSA), c/o T. Mahon, 1-3 Manor St., Bradford 1, Yorks. This is the Labour Party's own fundraising organisation. They run several draws a year and you get 50% commission on the sale of tickets. You can also order scratch off pontoon cards from ALSA to sell. Send us half of what you raise.

4. Alcohol kills your brain cells off. Why not save a few by donating the price of a pint to Class Fighter. Make a collection at every LPYS meeting and send it 5. Organise a social and print some tickets for it. Get everyone in the YS to donate some food and put some home brew on. Make sure that all members, contacts and anyone else who would be interested buys a ticket so that even if they don't turn up you've got some money off them. On the night organise a small rattle or sell pontoon cards. Make sure everyone helps to clean up the morning after. Send 6. Donations. If a spare bit of cash comes your azi send it to us. Better still take out a regular i vou ve got any other ideas let us know. Send all NLWYM. 214, Sickert Court, Essex campaigns work.
