TRADES ARD people to unceremoniously boot this government out of uffice, ditch their poliçies, ind dump them once and lur all where they truly belong, - on the scrapheap of history.

P30388 I want firstly to give my assessment of the dispute and then say where I think the dispute is going. The Sean Geraghty case gave us a great boost. There was a big increase on the picket lines when the case came up. It was a victory for the working class. The Tories backed off. We should be aware, though, of the weakness of the TUC: look at what Spanswick said, 'Don't strike for us. Where was the talk of general strike from the TUC?

This dispute and all it involves has shown the need to replace the present TUC 'leaders' WILe leadership that will fight, a revolutionary leadership.

The official leadership has tried to knife the dispute, calling one day strikes, weeks apart. They know very well that an all out strike would win, but they're scared to take on the Tories.

There has been a massive class response to the health workers, you can see that just from • the support we get on the picket lines and the solidarity action.

The NHS workers have shown that we can take on the Tories. Not only have they strengthened the working class movement, we have also seen new militant stewards come forward, people who may have been cynical before are standing up and saying, I want to take a stewards card'. They are also fighting the local right wing leaderships.

Even if the TUC manage to knife this dispute we will live to fight again. One of the most positive things is the militant caucus now establishing itself in the NHS, Health Workers for the Full Claim. They have produced bulletins and shown the kind of leadership that is needed nationally.

The RCN rejection has given uS a big boost. The nurses should now fight alongside us on strike and join proper trade unions. Their (male) leaders have shown their bankruptcy: The nurses reject and he says stop the action!

Carve-up

The dispute has gone on far too long. Low paid workers are losing a lot of money and may become demoralised. The way to win this dispute is through all out strike action with other workers joining in with us.

This government can tolerate these one day strikes, they have no interest in maintaining a good NHS. There has to be a political confrontation, with other workers joining it, a general strike.

If we lose this one the Tories will carve up the welfare state. It's up to us, the rank and file health workers, to turn the dispute to all out action now.'
