League, takes a big step forward this week with the expansion of its monthly paper, Red Youth.
The four page youth paper has met with an enthusiastic response since it was launched in June and the circulation has more than doubled in that time.
Newspaper size This now makes possible the expansion of the paper from its present magazine size to newspaper size, allowing more coverage and giving greater scope for lay-out and design.
Editor Andrew MacDonald told Socialist Press:
"The success of Red Youth shows that there is a radicalisation taking place amongst young people. There's no doubt that youth want to tight against racism, against unemployment and low wages and they see the need for their own paper.
"Red Youth takes up all these questions and fights for a Trotskyist programme. We refuse to adapt to the existing consciousness of youth but aim to build on the movement taking place amongst young people by presenting them with a serious political analysis and youth movement that fights to train youth as part of a new, revolutionary Red Youth has a vital role to play in this work of the Socialist Youth League which is why it is important that we are able to take this step forward in expanding the paper."
The new look Red Youth is published today (20 September) with issue number 4, and will continue to sell for 5p a copy.
Any reader of Socialist Press who would like to subscribe to Red Youth can do so by sending a cheque/P.O. for £1.50 or if they already subscribe to Socialist Press, for £0.60.
