The pressure of the masses continues to rise against the tyrannical reaction of the murderer who calls himself the King of Kings.

After the September demonstrations, when literally hundreds of thousands came onto the streets calling for the overthrow of the Shah, the tyrant-backed by Carter, Callaghan, Brezhnev and Chairman Hua-unleashed a new reign of terror.

Thousands of workers and students were shot down in cold blood on 8 September which has come to be known as "Bloody Friday"

The regime declared martial law, giving its police licence to indiscriminate murder.

Since then, the masses have continued their struggle through a rapidly spreading wave of strikes.

On October 1, there was a widely followed one day general strike and numerous militant demonstrations in protest against the collaboration of the fake 'progressive' regime in Iraq with the Shah's dictatorship.

On the day of the strike the police shot down and killed many more demonstrators including school children.

The Iraqi government had been holding the exiled opposition leader of the Shiite Muslims, Ayatollah (high priest) Khomeini, under house arrest.

Khomeini left Iraq to seek refuge elsewhere.

When he was not granted the right to stay in Kuwait, he attempted to return to Iraq but was refused permission to enter the country. He has now arrived in Paris.

Meanwhile the anti-Shah forces have begun a wave of strikes-ostensibly to demand higher wages and better conditions, but which everyone knows are directed against the dictatorship.

The last week has seen such strikes in the all-important oil industry, in the major state and private banks, in the post office and throughout the public sector of the economy.

Socialist Press calls for the maximum concrete solidarity to be shown by the British labour movement to the struggling, oppressed workers and peasants of Iran.

In particular the campaign for an immediate end to the military and economic aid from the "Labour" government to the murderers of Tehran must be redoubled.

Callaghan, Owen and Mulley are the willing accessories of mass murder.

In recent months the Labour government has authorised the export of thousands of riot guns and batons, CS gas grenades and rubber bullets to aid the butcher Shah in his repression. Such shipments must be blacked by *kers transport ince.

We call on all our readers to support the demonstration organised by the Campaign Against Repression in Iran for this Saturday, 14 October, assembling at Speakers Corner, Hyde Park at 1.30 p.m.

Down with the Shah!

End British government collaboration with the Shah!

Black all trade with Iran!

Callaghan, Owen and Mulley out!

For a workers' ment in Iran!
